The course is CTT course L820.
All riders must sign on before the start. Signing on will be at the start, near to Quernmore junction, as shown in this illustration.

The course continues (uphill!) south-west to Jubilee Tower. The road surface is generally very good. After Brow Top, the road narrows slightly, so beware of cars, and there is a cattle grid at around half-distance. Beyond the cattle grid you are out on to open moorland, so beware of sheep and other wildlife!

The road is not usually as busy as this. Note that there is a reasonably large car park at Jubilee Tower (seen here on the left). You may park here for the whole event and ride down to sign on at the start. The presentations (and free home-made fudge) will be held in this car park.
