Lancaster CC’s Jubilee Tower Open Hill Climb was run on the morning of Sunday, 2 October 2011. All of our hopes for a nice day were dashed as the rain and headwind set in, providing a stiff challenge for the riders. Special mention to the two Blackburn & District riders, who rode to the start for two hours!

So the conditions meant that there was little prospect of the Edge Cycleworks having to award the £250 prize for anyone going under 7 minutes. This prize and challenge are held over for next year, so let’s hope, once again, for the prevailing westerly and some nice warm autumn weather to propel next year’s winner to that elusive 7 minutes!!

Tejvan Pettinger won the event again with a time of 7 minues 37.5, while fist women was Lynn Hamel in 9 minutes 50.9. Well done to them and to all.

This year the Jubilee Tower Open Hill Climb is also the NLTTA Hill Climb Championship.
